Anaerobic membrane bioreactor (AnMBR) for domestic wastewater treatment

چکیده
The effect of backwash frequency (15, 30 and 60 min) and influent flux (3.75, 7.50 and 11.25 L/h/m) on fouling amelioration in an innovative external side-stream dead-end microfiltration anaerobic membrane bioreactor (AnMBR) for the treatment of domestic wastewater at 25EC was investigated. During 6 months of reactor operation, a constant COD removal of 88% and an accumulation of 350 mg TSS/L/d inert matter in the reactor were observed. Experiments with different backwash frequency and fluxes showed that the increase in transmembrane pressure with time (fouling rate) follows in a two-step manner: a slow linear rise at the beginning, followed by a sudden increase in transmembrane pressure. Based on the fouling rates during the slow linear phase, the best backwash frequency for energy savings and fouling amelioration was determined to be in between 30–60 min. Moreover, the effect of particulate matter load on fouling rate was determined.

Recent Developments in Municipal Wastewater Treatment Using Anaerobic Membrane Bioreactor: A Review
This review summarizes progresses in research on municipal wastewater treatment using anaerobic membrane bioreactors (AnMBR). At first, the AnMBR process options including membrane configuration and mean pore size or type are introduced. Next, many factors affect AnMBR performance in treating municipal wastewater, so this paper mainly focuses on the membrane characteristics, temperature, hydrau...
متن کاملAnaerobic Membrane Bioreactors (AnMBR) for Wastewater Treatment
This paper focuses on the recent research in the development of anaerobic membrane bioreactors in wastewater treatment. Anaerobic wastewater treatment technology is gaining increasing attention due to its capacity to convert wastewater BODs to usable biogas with relatively low energy consumption. The anaerobic membrane bioreactor (AnMBR), which is a combination of the anaerobic biological waste...

Membrane biofilm development was evaluated to improve psychrophilic (15°C) anaerobic membrane bioreactor (AnMBR) treatment of domestic wastewater. An AnMBR containing three replicate submerged membrane housings with separate permeate collection was operated at three levels of membrane fouling by independently controlling biogas sparging for each membrane unit. High membrane fouling significantl...

Sustainable municipal wastewater recovery scenarios highlight benefits of anaerobic membrane bioreactors (AnMBRs). However, influences of continuous seeding by influent wastewater and temperature on attached-growth AnMBRs are not well understood. In this study, four bench-scale AnMBR operated at 10 and 25°C were fed synthetic (SPE) and then real (PE) primary effluent municipal wastewater. Illum...

This study aims to develop a predictive framework to assess the removal and fate of trace organic chemicals (TrOCs) during wastewater treatment by anaerobic membrane bioreactor (AnMBR). The fate of 27 TrOCs in both the liquid and sludge phases during AnMBR treatment was systematically investigated. The results demonstrate a relationship between hydrophobicity and specific molecular features of ...
